I have a request to those of you that have 1903A4 clones. Would you snap a picture or three of your rifle with the safety in the ‘Ready’ (Straight up) position? I’d like to make a clone for myself, but have very large hands and fingers. I’m concerned that I won’t be able to work the safety with a scope in place. Thanks in advance, DT (I won’t be shooting this in matches, but want a functioning safety, not concerned about true authenticity. This is one of my drill rifles)

With high rings in functions if the eye bell is not large.

With Medium Rings I mill safety down til it functions. The detent spring hole will appear but then just put a quick gas weld on it. Then, sand and cut one half coil off spring. Works fine.

This is with 1" scopes where the bell is near the safety of coarse.

Iíve had this 1903-A3 since 1961. I sportorized it back in 1973. No idea what happened to the original stock as I thought they were super ugly back then. Iím sure it got tossed. Looking to put it back to stock condition some day.
