Default 5.4 sa

Okay, I'll bite. What's so special about a SG 5.4 mil SA in CMP wood?

A regular old service grade in a CMP stock, ahhhhh, not sure why that would be put up for auction, especially when there are people waiting for SG orders to be filled. It is a late SA for that block, making it near the end of the run, but not that close to the end that I can figure a premium. Be interesting to see if someone chimes in and points out something I'm not seeing.

Exactly...when you can't get something it's worth more to people that want it!!

I would agree if they had stopped taking SG orders a long while ago, but they just stopped taking orders and there are people still waiting for SG orders to be filled. It's almost like a slap in the face of those who are waiting patiently to get their orders filled.

Default 5,460,xxx

The SG I received during the last mail order was a 5460XXX. It actually has a DAS stamp (very light) and a well struck P. It's the best shooter Garand or Carbine that I own.

Back in 2010 I bought a SA 5.485 that was a "Service Grade Special"

quote from an earlier post " Service Grade Specials: The ones I have seen at the South Store two years ago and at Camp Butner during the Eastern Games were all nearly correct and the barrels are USGI, not commercial Criterion. The wood will probably be new commercial wood. These have more collector value because the barrel is USGI. The metal is all excellent quality. Buy this if your interest is collecting...."

could be one of these grades?

Don't believe so. This piece seems to have "incorrect" HRA parts that would remove it from SGS categorization.

I am at a loss for why this is up for auction. Nothing special that I can see. Nice looking SG, but wouldn't even excite me as a luck of the draw rifle. I have received several just like that or better with nice metal finish and a CMP stock. Apparently the old style CMP stock is now auction worthy?

Or a IHC safety??

I was thinking the same thing about what's so special.
I hope the CMP isn't testing the waters to put all remaining services grades on auction??
