I'd hang out on the M14 Forum, and watch the adds here... You can get a early (under 100k serial) SAI in the $1300 to $1700 range, and re-fresh, or update the parts that will drop the MOA to less then 2 pretty cheaply... I picked up this (on right) very early Glen nelson Supermatch last year from the CMP forums for $1450 FTF. Its a 1 MOA all day (if I do my job!).
I also just had Rick Bowen build me one on a SAI receiver, USGI parts, bedded, ended up about $2100 total, and its a 1.5 MOA...

If your not in a big hurry, maybe look into the BAR group guy thread over on the M14 forum, Geedunk thread...

I'd find a pre-ban SAI M1A. Cost is much less and the pre-ban one's usually have GI parts. I would not purchase a contemporary MIM parts SAI M1A for any amount of money.

Yep, thanks Woof !....and for everyone else.....the only reason it's not sub moa, is because for the sake of expediency, we chose to install a used SAI g.i. profile barrel I happened to have on hand. When he sends it back for re-barrel after blasting that one out real good, we will go with a nicer barrel and get those bad X's dispatched....forthwith.

Of course my all time favorite are heel stamped Poly Tech.
Buy them when you find them.

Bula Defense Systems XM21 in front and LRB M25 in the rear. I love them both, but I would not take them out to dinner.

I have for 1400. Should I do it? All GI except barrel and receiver

I will say that as long as m1 garands with all GI parts and forged receivers are still around it makes it hard to go for an m14 at all
