I also store rifle bullets with tip up.

Extra care is taken with ballistic tips which can crack and fracture if not stored properly.

I store bullet down so I can see the primer and verify proper orientation.

WoodyWagon - I store mine in 50 and 100 rd plastic boxes with the bullet tip up. After reloading, I first mark a sharpie stripe on the case head to help get my brass back but mostly to be sure the primer is seated deep. I store them tip up because I don't want them to be traveling on those bullet tips, but also when shooting in the rain it seems the primers are not as quickly exposed to rain water. You asked....and so that's what I do and why. I would say - pick a system and stick to it. Good luck with whatever you decide.

All my ammo is stored in ammo cans. They lay however they land in the can. No issues in 30 years.
