Default Again, .308 what to use in rebarreled Special?

I recently received a CMP special M1 re-barreled in .308. What if any commercial ammo is OK to use? I got some White Box Winchester 7.62X51 and the ballistics seem almost exact to what M2 is. But I always err on the side of safety and I'm no expert so I figure this is a good place to ask before I blow my gun or myself up. Any other brands that are good? Yes I'll look for surplus at gun shows but absent of that, California is stupid with ammo now.
Thank you.

I bought a case of Federal GMM 168 for mine from the cmp... The white box xm80 shoots quite well but the GMM so far is the best commercial I've used.

The Federal M1A ammo (also sold by the CMP) is a very good compromise. The performance and price fall between M80 and FGMM ammo - actually a little closer to the FGMM than the M80 ammo.

I use Privi M80 ball for inexpensive plinking and creedmoor Match ammo when my wallet is feeling hefty.

The PP M80 is listed at 2835 muzzle velocity. I can't find the pressure but that's higher than the 30-06 ammo I use. Is it still considered safe in an M1?
