Default Unissued Leather Cheek Rest

Can anyone give me an idea of what this is worth? It is still sealed.

I also have an unissued 1907 sling still sealed to go along with it.

if it's a genuine military there will be a tag in the sealed wrapper and will have a month and date under MRT, if it doesn't have a tag then it's a reproduction

I've got a repro cheek rest packaged just like that so packaging alone can't be used to determine authenticity IMO.

It’s not a repro for sure there is a tag in the bag. As I mentioned, it came with a sling still in the issue packing too.

No date on either is going to be a problem.

Cathey Enterprises (AKA Hill Country Leather) a Gov't contractor, made the cheek pad as well as the M1907 Slings for the surplus/gun show market. Items were marked MRT, but no date. Cathey also included a white paper lable and a white slip of paper for each inside the poly bag that included nomenclature and a NSN.

Those made under contract were marked MRT and date stamped; however, none of these items were made of "Mildew Resistant Treated" (MRT) leather. Cathey used strap leather from South of the Border. Leather treated MRT is very expensive to tan and had fallen out of use by the mid 1960s, and the chemical fungicide used is highly toxic.
