Mike,
Is this postal match like the JROTC postal matches - but open to individual adults?
Can an individual fire this on any suitable home range that meets the distance requirements http://thecmp.org/wp-content/uploads/Rules.pdf
Thanks

It's similar except it has about every category we could think of. For now, we only have a precision 3p open category, but will expand it to include Sporter next quarter because of the growing interest. Juniors are not allowed in the open 3p category.

And yes, we designed it so it could be shot anywhere. You send us the entry with payment, we send the targets, you send them back. That's it!

Thanks Mike;
I hope to join in the fun for the Sporter class next quarter. I'll need to pick up a qualifying rifle for the match and some good pellets. The rules show these rifles:
4.2.1 Approved Rifles
 Air Rifles officially approved for Sporter Class air rifle competitions are the AirForce
Air Guns Edge, Crosman CH2000 (CO2), Crosman CH2009 (CO2 or compressed air),
Daisy M853/753/953/853CM (pneumatic), Daisy 888/887 (CO2), Daisy XSV40 Valiant
(compressed air), Air Arms T200 (compressed air, with non-adjustable cheek-piece
and butt-plate) and the Champions Choice T200 (CZ 200T, compressed air, with
adjustable cheek-piece and butt-plate). Daisy 887/888 rifles may have 2010 model
replacement stocks.
It would be nice if the CMP sales would open up the used/new Daisy air rifle purchase program for adults that will be using them to participate in this new Ace postal match series. ($100 + S&H refurbished)

Yeah, I don't think there is a restriction on the used 853s. I just bought 2. I'll check though and update on here.

Assuming you can buy an 853 from the CMP this is the no-brainer way to go if starting from scratch. I've seen several and none are beat. I've been shooting the one I just got for a few days and it will shoot the same hole at 10 meters and I'm using pellets that are nothing special.
