About six, all in new wood. Nothing exciting about them if I recall. All SA with a mix of parts.

Yes, looks to be that way. The rest of the finish on the receiver reminds me of that case hardened stuff on Krags. Odd

That will be pretty easy to clean up. I would take that Field Grade any day. What are the TE/ME?

That could be the original type 2 lockbar set. Is the op rod unmodified? That wood looks great and I can see part of the SA/GHS stamp. jackpot on that one..... Wobbly buttplate should not be a concern at all. You should be able to get it tight.

From the looks of the pics, you are going to have a hard time getting many to feel really sorry for this rifle. You really scored.

0 and 1 on a SA 55 barrel.

You guys have better eyes than me! I can just see the box. I have the parts soaking and I have already cleaned up the wood. Not sure what was on the rifle but it was slimy nasty sticky stuff. Not cosmoline, as that is my cologne so I know it anywhere. Some rust on the spring for the hammer. I think the lockbar sights are original. OPROD has the cut. So I think it went through a rebuild.
