My map case was packed to the brim. Then also in the mix was the terrain and fields of fire sketches and those dang authentication tables...oh the life!
My assignment was the Fulda Gap and what fun was it! My that was a long time ago and a different Cold War era. Massive war gaming then with lots of assets and personnel.

Here are some pictures of my map case, a 1941 Boyt. I’ve got to think this was made before December as we were building up for war. Definitely a cool piece of history. Definitely not a part of any kit I use on the plane hunting subs haha!

the unissued 1930s map case I have is about half as wide as that one. Could see the reason to change it to the one we are talking about.The other well used map case is like yours, and I think dated 1942
