Default "Steel Pot" Helmet

---SPF---

I'm no authority on these so I tried to post some good pictures.
This is a Steel Pot Helmet with Liner, Leather Headband and Net.

I have been told that the helmet may be WWII vintage (due to some of the characteristics) and the liner, headband and net may be Vietnam era.
----UPDATE----the helmet has been identified as "not USGI...it is an Austrian M75."

The helmet appears to have a stainless steel rim with the seam in the rear.
It has swivel bales and the canvas straps/clasps are in good condition. The clasps don't appear to be Vietnam era from the pictures/info I have been able to find. I believe they are earlier than that, and look like they have the "break away" type of clasp.

The previous owner painted the "unit" markers on the side for re-in acting and his son's Halloween costume. I think it's rattle can, so it should come off easy if one wanted to remove it.

The inner shell is plastic and the headband is leather with an elastic suspension system and leather straps.

The only markings I could find are on the headband it is ink stamped "56-58" not sure if this is a date code or size.

The steel pot has a white ink stamp in the inside rear but I can't make anything of it.

I am asking $25.00 or best offer and maybe we can come to an agreement on shipping.

Great Info, that's probably why I couldn't find any info/pictures of this rig.

After coolhandluke's post, I did find the identical helmet on the web. Thanks for solving the mystery.

I hate to see it waste away in storage, if anyone is interested in having this, let me know.
It won't hurt my feelings....make an offer

Thanks coolhandluke
