Default Under promise and over fulfill!

After initially receiving an email telling me I missed out this go around, Mr. #9446 got the call today and had my choice of Service Grade and Field Grade. Looking forward to getting her soon!

Pretty amazing that there have been that many people that could not or would not complete the process when notified.

Congrats to you!

There was a person from Texas that just posted today that wondered if the "re-parkerized and mismatched frame and slide" are worth the $1050 that he paid. I told him that in my area you couldn't get a pistol in that condition for less than $1500. I also informed him that the CMP would send him his money back if wanted to return the pistol and someone else would appreciate the chance to get it.

They wasted no time. They called me today, shipped FedEx priority today so it should be at my FFL tomorrow for pickup

About 29 hours after receiving the call, I picked up this beauty from my FFL. Ithaca lower and Remington Rand slide. From what I can determine, the lower was built in 1943 and was reworked at LEAD. I'm very new to the 1911 platform so I've got to check her out, clean her up, and try to get out to the range soon!

Outstanding!

I see people bellyaching about cost, then say they can get a clone for $600 - come on, a clone will be worth $450 two years from now, these will be a third more...

Had a former coworker (I’m retired now.) offer me $2000 for my CMP Remington Rand. I told him thanks but no thanks. It’s not for sale. Bought my last M1911a1, a Colt in excellent condition with 98% original finish for $950 back in 1990s. Probably paid to much at the time but it was so nice. Kept that one too and it’s worth at least double what I paid and I’ve had the pleasure of owning it for many years.

Iím not rich but the cost for one doesnít bother me. Iím not a hard core collector planning to corner the market on 1911s. There is no clone of a milsurp weapon. It either was or it wasnít and if I wanted a wasnít I could have had that years ago

I concur! Very nice looking pistol.

I also agree that whatever the CMP sends you is worth the money and a sound investment. I have only seen one 1911A1 at our LGS's for less than $1000($950) and it was a worn pitted out mixmaster with no finish left. I started out collecting milsurp in the early 90's with $250 carbines and Garands, $150 broomhandles and $50 Enfields. Those days are over and not coming back. $1500 mix 1911's seem like the new norm around here and it'll probably go up from there.
