Sounds as though you may not have gotton the op rod over bolt lug when reassembling. It has to be something with your reassembly as it worked before you stripped it and its been a safe queen since

When the hammer is resting on the bolt, it does not want to unlock, you haft to really pull back on it hard to unlock it, sometimes it doesn’t and we haft to take the trigger group out, when the hammer is cocked it unlocks no problem, never did this until the other day when we got it out of the safe, was working fine when it was put in there.
Thanks!

Found what was wrong we tore down the bolt and the firing pin was full of cosmoline, wasn’t letting the firing pin retract when the bolt is opened

Suggest you call the CMP directly if you want an answer from the CMP. A good start would be the Custom Shop.

It is unlikely in the extreme that a CMP employee will answer your question in this sub-Forum.

Alternatively, if you want suggestions from the CMP Community, asking in the Ask Each Other or Garand sub-Forums will get you a multiplicity of responses.

Good Luck!

I guess "complete tear-down" means different things to different people.
