Default WTS 1918 Colt 1911 W/ Provenance

This 1911 Colt #284533 was manufactured in 1918 & fully documented to an Army Orthopedic Surgeon through his son. Albert G. Gartner was a Captain who carried it in France during WWI. It is original throughout, with honest wear on the blued finish of the front & rear grip strap, trigger, and high points with inspector JMG (John M. Gilbert) proof. There is wear under the take down lever from disassembly in the past & a repair to the lower right grip screw escutcheon under the grip. The grips are in excellent condition with wear on the top of the grip screws. The barrel port PH marking is readily visible and the barrel has a mirror bore. The magazine is the two-tone w/ consistent wear to the condition of the pistol and the marking “A” on the toe. (American Pin Co.) Accompanying this 1918 Colt are the veteran’s holster & drop, pistol belt, magazine pouch, gas mask w/ instructions & lens cleaner, canteen pouch w/ canteen & utensils (never opened), Dough Boy helmet w/ instruction tag still present, Sam Brown belt & leather Gaiters. Also included are his Dog Tags, shaving mirror, various insignia, & official listings of his enlistment, time in service, and Discharge. The provenance on this equipment was made possible due to the veteran writing/inscribing his name on virtually every piece, which his son identified through photos and letters written by his father while posted in France. Although names in the documents will be obscured in this ad to the extent possible because of privacy concerns, the documents themselves will reveal all names & information documenting provenance to the buyer. Included will be copies of email communications with the son of the veteran, an 8x10 B&W glossy of the veteran in full Army uniform furnished by the son, 8x10 copy of his Certification of Military Service (Discharge), and the original & signed notarized affidavit from his son certifying that articles and possessions listed belonged to his father. I am a collector & this has been in my possession since 2005. $4500 shipped/insured. First unequivocal "I'll take it" w/ PM followup.
