Thank you guys very much. I can assure you, the new has not wore off. I gave Dad's old barrel to him today and he was just as excited, even though the chamber was all welded shut!

That had to have been a daunting task to put back together (especially after procuring the rifle). I was under the impression they welded those things up so tight that you wouldn't be able to get it back into working shape... Which I'm glad that you did!!!

I asked my dad for his Garand serial number while he was in Nam, but he told me that he don't want it, and said that he killed to many people with it.
