The original poster's axe is a genuine example of the Model of 1910 Hand Axe.

The image below is an old one taken of a few of the Hand Axes in my collection. The OD painted handles are on the WW2 examples.

My dad still has the Plumb hand axe that was my grandfathers. The story was that he brought it and two M1910 entrenching tools home after the war. At one point there was a seller from WI that did all the local gun shows and he had a case of GI surplus OD M1910 hand axe handles. I bought 5-10 handles "just in case" as the handle on the Plumb was/is cracked. Not sure I've seen another spare since the seller died.
