Thanks Alan, and as always - excellent!

Were there any barreled recs left inthe store? Prefer the $100 or correct $125 ones...

Thanks again!

Here are the pictures of the M1 carbine mags I picked out.

From left to right: S.I., ISG, circled SL, SP-S'G', SL, and K-IP. Sorry for the poor lighting.

Here is the S.I. mag. I don't see many of these. Maybe because I think they are IS mags and don't give them much of a second look.

I'm a sucker for WWII rebuild cartouches. My WRA Garand with WRA stock has a NFR rebuild cartouche, I have a SA/SHM on a GAW Garand stock. I owned for a short period, a 03A3 with a beautiful GAW cartouche. A SHM on a carbine is just really cool to me.

Honestly, I did not even look. Usually I pick up every rifle in the place but got too distracted with the .22s.

Default abeal 40-X ?

abeal- Did you by any chance note if any or all of the 40-XB barreled receivers had the loading ramp still in them??? I have an extra bolt and triggers and can make the bolt stop but the loading ramp would be alot of work for me without a actual mill.

Sure wished I lived within a reasonable driving distance of a store!! Would love to have a $400 Kimber as I cannot really justify fiancially a $600 one.

Thanks for your time. Also thanks to all from a newly registered member. The information here is a real asset and a time killer for me and my situation.

Respectfully,
Dennis

I bought three of these and it's like getting new rifles. These are some of the nicest rifles I've seen at the NS and are real keepers.

I like the SHM/SA rebuild stocks on a carbine, because they are large and bold and have the crossed cannons. They look out of place because they are the style normally associated with M1 Garands.

So--I just always "needed" one for the coolness factor. I have no idea if they are rare. Sometimes when you post reports I even see new items that I didn't realize I "needed" until you posted the photos.

Thanks, I always enjoy your reports!.

Default Service Special M1

What is the difference between the Service Special and the CMP Special? Can I order the Service Special through the mail or do I have to go to the store to purchase one of these? Thanks in advance for your help... Steve

CMP special is a reparked mixmaster with new criterion barrel and new cmp stock

service grade special is near mint post war SA with original barrel and new cmp stock

service grade special is $200 LESS than CMP special.

Service grade special is not available via mail order. you have to go to the store.

In my opinion, there is no choice to be made. The service grade specials are a much better deal and a better looking rifle (metal-wise)
