Ha! That's why it's probably good I joined these forums. Had no idea about the connection between IHC and "postage stamps." No IHCs available these days, so I hadn't read up them as much. Newb mistake for sure.

Interesting factoid, though. Apparently the IHC Garands were built in a factory in Evansville, Indiana, which is only about 30 minutes from where I grew up. So, if any every show up again, I may just have to grab one for sentimental reasons. Just don't tell my wallet (or my wife).

Me too..You prolly won't get pretty and WW2 in same package. My advise is buy as close to what you want as soon as you can. Keep an eye on the sales forum here where members sell their rifles. That way you get to see what you are getting before the purchase. Also if you can throw a few more bucks with your $625 get a SG Special and save for correct wood then you will have pretty...

Well, so much for having time to mull it over. My FFL 03 came in the mail today (only three weeks after they cashed my check!). I'm thinking I may just drop an order in the mail this week and keep my fingers crossed for 60-90 days.

GG, I don't know if I'd call Brown Deer "cool," but it's quiet, which is more important in my book anyway.

Nope, wrong. Your C&R is a proper qualification of firearm activity and joining the GCA for $25 is a qualifying club. You need these to be on file (can bring for a store visit or attach with a mail order).

I say mail order a SG.

I would say try mail order for a SG may get lucky. Its funny just a couple months ago I was at the SS and was able to pick up a WW2 SG with out any trouble. Now I think the racks are bare

Like I said, though, the most important thing is to get guns that shoot and look good on the wall, WWII or otherwise. My Mosin-Nagant is 1939 and looks like it was used through most of the war, so a newer, prettier Garand might be a good compliment.

Now if only the UK had a version of the CMP selling Enfield No4 MkIs...
Check Allan's Armory periodically for the Enfields. He doesn't have any listed right now, but he gets them in from time to time and his prices are usually quite reasonable. The last batch went from $150 to $210 (if I remember correctly) depending on condition.
As for the Garand, my suggestion is to wait a little bit to allow them to get caught up and make the pilgrimage to the North Store and look for a nice Field Grade. I have a very nice six-digit FG that was hand-selected for me by Magna at the South Store. Gems can be found in the FG racks from time to time.

Thanks for the recommendation. That sound like exactly the kind of opportunity I'm looking for. Allan's Armory, welcome to my bookmarks.
