Default Newbie CMP Correct Garand

Hi, There,
Just got a Correct HRA Garand. Arrived in cosmoline with threads in the hiding places all over the rifle.
Utterly no wear at the muzzle from cleaning, no wear inside parts, original barrel and all parts check out with the date of manufacture. I don't think there has been a rebuild, an a few others who have seen it are stumped too.
1+ muzzle and 2+ throat tags. However, I looks likes it's never been fired.
Stock has some dings but it seems to be a new rifle. Only place I can see that anything had been touched was the stacking swivel looked like it had been stacked or handled there gently.
I saw that some unissued rifles have shown up there. How would i check this out. This thing is a beauty!
Any advice is appreciated.
OH

OH;

Welcome to the Forum. My first suggestion would be to take some pics and share with the membership, so we can rejoice with you .

Congrats. There have been other's who've posted of similar specimens.

Wow. I'm sure I'm not alone in wiping off the drool from the keyboard.

Best way(not the quickest) to remove the cosmo from the wood(and metal parts) is put 'em in the sun for a day or 2(thanks MK!). Wipe 'em down every hour or so. The cosmolene will seep for a while. Works well on the wood; doesn't hurt the finish. I did 2 FGs in PA sun. Have fun with it.

How would one research to see it it could be unissued or just stored in a can for years??
How did the GCA know what was a Collector and what was not???
