Default M7 "Priest" at Perry

I went for a short ride today (July 4th) to see how Camp Perry was looking before the madness of the annual matches begins. As I drove around behind the North Store, I found this sitting against a fence, all alone and looking forlorn.

It's an M7 "Priest" from the WWII/Korean War era, a self-propelled 105mm howitzer designed to keep up with armored units. I've never seen one before, and certainly not at Perry.

Maybe they'll haul it out for the 1st Shot ceremony on Monday. Or maybe Orest is saving it for a "surprise" auction during the matches.

We had one that sat as a static display at our National Guard Armory in Cincinnati for years. I haven't been there for quite some time but I believe it was removed several years ago. No idea where it went.

What a beauty, I would love to have one of those! Looks like a Service Grade.
