Well, this fella makes Rod bayont hand guards from scratch. I’ll take his word, thanks. They feel good either way to me when im on the line. My fingers and my rounds cant tell.

I have a 1903 target SN 1497xxx (drilled and tapped) in rear for a rec site that wears one if these stocks as well. Sedgley barreled. Looks good in these hand grooved stocks.

Now back to topic. 1903 finger grooves. Here's a good example and how some get confused with what their looking at.

It is the same size cutter only the stock is tapered which makes the back wider and the front of the groove smaller

Thats only in depth. The bits width is constant. Look at pic above with comments. Your last. Is that a quote from that diagram?
It’s one thing to collect, its another to make and replicate. First and formost is to understand how it was done originally. Guys that do are rare indeed.
