Default Finn M-39

My question, what is a decent/fair price for an original Sako M39 rifle? Average original, fair barrel as one might expect from what is likely battlefield use and rounds from 1941-1943. The rifle seems to function just fine with and no obvious concerns. Thanks for any help.

I would expect to pay $400-600 depending on condition.

Thanks guys, I was thinking along those price lines too. I just haven't seen prices anywhere that I trusted as a fair sale prices.

M39s can vary in condition from unused to no bluing left on the metal. A Sako should have a Sako symbol on the right side of the buttstock. Take a look on gunbroker to get an idea of price and condition. You should not settle for a worn out M39 because you can find really good condition ones on gunbroker or other sites. Seller ‘milstuff’ on gunbroker sometimes has antique ones on gunbroker. This seller is the person known as Pat Burns and had thousands of these M39s and was selling the non-antique ones on their website and was selling the antique ones on gunbroker.on their website. It is believe they sold on rest of their non-antique inventory to Classic Firearms. See the gunboards.com forums for more details. If you attend OGCA, I will have a couple of M39s there.

One more thing. Russian Mosin Nagants are now going for $300+ so except to spend closer to $600+ for a good M39.

Like others have said, $400-600 depending on condition. I gave $600 back in February for a near mint 1941 Sako built on an 1895 Tula receiver with correct stock and Finn matched numbers on barrel, bolt, and magazine. It’s a beautiful rifle and a fantastic shooter I just worry about tearing it up when I shoot it.

If it's marked PUOLUSTUSLAITOS, 12-1500. Additionally I would pay a premium for a low serial number. IMHO you aren't going to find a nice one for under $600.

Folks seem to want more for M28's but IMHO I wouldn't pay $850 for one. M39's are getting to be $500 - $600 now. Maybe $700 for a M28 if you are really into collecting Finn Mosins? If you simply want a Finn, I'd recommend the M39.

A couple years ago I bought two M39's, in order to keep the best shooter. One was a beautiful Sako with a wartime re-arsenal stock and the other was a well worn VKT in a stock that looked like it had been attacked by beavers on crack. Guess which one was the tack-driver.
