Default New Minelli handguard

Is there a right way (easy way) to install the clips on a new 03A3 handguard?
Thanks in advance.

Not without milling out the wood needed for their installation. Surplus handguards are still too easy to find for doing that work.

Hi ilionkid,

Unless you are a real purist, just leave the hand-guard as it is.

Honestly, not one person in ten will notice the clips are not there.
Expectantly if there is no notch in the hand-guard.
I bought two 03 A3's from the CMP & both were missing the clips.

Most match shooters years ago removed them. The thought at the time was, it allowed the barrel to float a tad better!
If you know someone that is a GOOD wood worker I'm sure with a little secure set up, he could notch it for you. I would not recommend a Dremel tool cutting freehand.

Good Luck,
broom

This Minelli had all the cuts, recesses milled in. Nice stock, nice handguard, still a little fat. Lightly stained, soaked up BLO anyway. Thanks guys, five minutes after I posted I grabbed a thin screwdriver, pushed one side on and pried the other side over the edge. All good.

Thanks, broom. Now I have an excess Type 10 stock and handguard.
