Default opinion: sporterized Rock Island 1903

Saw a nicely sporterized Rock Island 1903 at my local gun store. Sporterized stock, new barrel, and a Lyman micrometer sight. Still chambered in 30'06. 374,xxx serial number.

Price, $319.

Looks like a well put together, nicely patina'ed old rifle.

I have no interest in trying to restore it, it looks nice as is. Is $319 a reasonable price for something like that?

Considering my dad bought a K98 in the late forties after WWII for $25 and had it sporterized for $100, I think your lgs deal seems good! New barrel and micro sights are icing on the cake.

What’s the finish like? Polished and blued or GI? That would make a difference to me. If not polished then I like.

The lyman receiver sight is worth probably half the price of the rifle by itself. I say as a shooter it's worth that.
