Muritic acid diluted works very well. use out doors. and rinse in warm water and use a SOS pad as well. dont leave it in very long or it will etch the metal, 5% acid to cold water works very well. dont do this in you good pants and wear safety glasses.

What the Greeks used on 1903s was different. Real Greek Black that is on Garands cannot be removed besides blasting.
It "looks" like a thick epoxy paint type finish. Not saying it is but that is what it looks like, once you see it you would never mistake it for another finish. Many people call any dark finish Greek Black which it is not
Anyone removing a finish with Naval Jelly or vinegar is not Greek Black
