Justin, I still have not even fired that O-66 yet and usually just take the Field Grade 2.75 I bought there to the range. Even that only got to the range once this year. I doubt we will attend that meeting, we are expecting again in early April so I do not foresee any road trips for us to Alabama in the near future.

Replacement barrel
And my friend noticed that there may be another faint rebuild marking. Just above the OB83..

Congrats on the USMC rebuild. Oorah ! Mine is a WW2 Colt frame and Ithaca slide. It does have a newer chrome lined barrel. I haven't found any reuild marks on it but it is a nice M1911A1.

Yeah, I was super pleased.
I am also attaching the letter I mentioned about the USMC conversion of M1911's to M1911A1's in the 1950's.

I had Colt 1911 # 47721 back in the 90s. I think it had the milled cut on the left side of the frame behind the trigger. I mentioned the cut here on the forums a couple of years ago and was told the 1911 frames were not modified to 1911A1 specs at the arsenal overhauls. I have no pictures of it to verify if my memory is correct but if I am correct, then it could have been a USMC pistol overhauled in that program. Too bad I sold it in 98 or 99.

A friend received one with an early RGN. The serial number was for a 1918 M1911 but it was modified with finger cuts to be a M1911A1 and was a USMC rebuild. I got to digging for him and found the letter. He's quite proud of his.
