Default Remington 40XB Rear Swivel Question

My Remington 40XB Heavy Barrel US marked has no rear sling swivel. Just a simple hole in the stock where one might be. What should I use to provide a period correct rear swivel?

Used ones are listed as available at Numrich and I obviously have no connection to them. I have found that it interferes with placement of the stock on the rear bag when shooting these monsters from the bench. I refinished the stock on my 40XB and I cut a walnut plug cross grain and glued it in the swivel hole so if I ever want to replace the swivel I can just drill the hole and replace it. Could be why your swivel is not present. The butt swivel on the 40X is same as on 513T so you should not have any problem locating one.
