Default Accidently got a 1911

Originally I was officered a Field or Rack Grade, so I picked a Field Grade. Then CMP called back and explained they accidently charged me for a Service Grade, so I was upgraded...and I am glad I was because I got a 1911.

This is my first time posting pics, so forgive me if it take me awhile.

I got mine last week on 6/12. I was 6229 and I chose a Service Grade.

The original offering for a Service Grade said: "... Pistol may exhibit "minor pitting and wear on exterior surfaces and friction surfaces". Grips are complete with no cracks. Pistol is in issuable condition. Pistols "may contain commercial parts." ... "

Well, .... what I received DID NOT MATCH the Service Grade description.

No matter how hard I looked, I could not find any "minor pitting and wear on exterior surfaces and friction surfaces" ... nor did I find any "commercial parts".

Instead, ..... what I got was an absolutely MINT 1941 gun, as rebuilt by ANAD 3/78.

This is the 1911A1 I picked up from my FFL on 6-21-2019. They said it was a Field Grade, but sure could have fooled me! It is in much better shape than I anticipated and am really thrilled.

Mainspring Housing I haven't seen on other posts

Default Rem Rand 1911A1

Picked mine up from the FFL Saturday. Pretty darn happy with my 'lowly' FG. Feel like it would likely have been a SG if not for some holster/rack wear to the slide.

Magazine has an odd difference in parkerizing shades right across the middle..

Default Two Tone Magazine

My service grade 1911 also came with the two tone magazine but it is difficult to tell without a camera flash.

It's here, and it's a beauty. 1944 Remington Rand frame and slide. ANAD in 1978. Not an advertisement, but I bought a surplus holster in the fall in hopes of success (price is up $10 since Oct). It's a great holster, but work it and use some leather conditioner. They've been sitting around since the 80s. https://www.omahas.com/shop/45-caliber-holster-issue/

Default 1918 Colt

While waiting for my CMP 1911, I thought I'd show the one I picked up about 6 years ago for $1k.

My FG Colt 1911 from this week. They must be finally dipping into museum guns, not a whole lot of straight 1911 have shown so far but have been in same general condition as photos of Museum open crate.

I got a 1911 with a tag that looks like the museum guns. I have been out of town so have not had a chance to break it down, but it is a AA rebuild with a HS replacement barrel and a replacement slide catch. Sent to Bush Terminal Brooklyn to AEF per Bear pack.
