Default Enger-Kress M3 holster

I recently saw an Enger-kress that looked to near perfect, as in almost new. There was the usual "US" and "Enger-Kress" stamped on the back but no date. my questions are:

1. are there reproductions of the E-K holster out there?
2. are all E-K holsters dated? I have seen 1943 and 1944.

thank you,

grumpa72

There are unissued or at least unused specimens out there and not all are dated. I have one that's undated and that never had a pistol in it. It's a very light, natural leather color. Most of the repros I've seen are dyed darker to look like the more common used ones you typically see.

thebearpack,

Thank you for those comments. So you have seen E-K M3 holsters? Hmmm. I need to go back and find the one I had seen and see if I can verify its age or authenticity.

Thanks,

Here's mine. Undated EK in unissued condition:

And here's a typical repro on Ebay, dyed to look like a typical used specimen: https://www.ebay.com/itm/US-WW2-M3-C...CtZw:rk:2:pf:0

Finally, here's what I believe is a nice original but used version on Ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/WWII-US-M3-...QRiu:rk:9:pf:0

Thank you. Good ebay links. The one I had seen certainly looks like yours, almost made yesterday.

The market for them is all over the place honestly. I've seen mint ones go for $75 on Ebay (though that's not the norm) up to $175 for unissued in the wrap. probably $125-$150 would be a good starting range.

I bid on one about 2 months ago (more or less?) and got it for less than $70. The bidding was REALLY slow and I put in a bid on a sniping program. Most had been as described $125 and up. Mine looks like it was made yesterday. They are out there but be very careful because some have some real issues with repairs and replaced parts like snaps etc.

Be aware that the Chinese are making fake M3 style holsters with a variety of markings, including a spurious Enger Kress mark. Note the comical mis-spelling of Enger Kress on this phoney.

Charlie
