Default M'03-A3 Rifles at the South Store

When M'03-A3 rifles are inspected and repaired, the rifles are sorted and packed in 90-rifle pallets by manufacturer (Remington or Smith-Corona). Under current CMP practice, M'03-A3 rifles are released to the stores for sale whenever a pallet is completed. When a pallet of M'03-A3 rifles is released to the stores for sale, they fly out the door like a covey of quail. Therefore, before planning and making a trip to the CMP store for an M'03-A3 rifle, one should give due consideration to this scenario.

p.s.,

I will add that I work one day per month and inspect about 25 rifles each day. So I complete a pallet of M'03-A3 rifles about every four months. The current CMP practice of promptly releasing the rifles for sale is subject to change at any time.

Thank you for your work Mr. Beard. I bought one of your Remington 03-A3's 2 years ago. It cleaned up beautifully and shoots amazingly well. I was just handling it yesterday in fact.

Thanks for the information. Based upon inspection dates it looks like you're there every second Friday barring a holiday

I am not retired. My employer uses a 9/80 work schedule which gives me off every other Friday. So every fourth Friday, I go to the CMP, circumstances permitting.

Just curious. What is predominant latest source of the M'03-A3's? Government warehouse, ROTC, Veterans Organizations, military assistance returns, etc.?

The rifles come from VFW and American Legion posts. The posts are now being issued M1 Garand rifles (which they are not very happy about) and are being directed to turn in their Springfield rifles to the CMP. As described on the CMP website, the rifles are subject to having fired thousands of blanks.
