arnie,

A Krag 22 rimfire gallery rifle is very desirable. Definitely would like to know more about it. Can you provide more info and pictures?

I will be going to the shop Monday the 8th .I will see if they will let me take pictures .Where would a Pope barrel marking be ? Its in Stockton Ca. so not very handy to most of you . IM wondering how this would feed 22 rim fire ammo from the box magazine on the side ?.I couldn't open it very far because they had a zip tie around it to block the trigger

Default 22 rim fire Krag

You should do some research on Krag rifle conversions to 22 rim fire, these are rifles that if in nice condition and original very much in demand in the collector market.

They are single shot rifles converted for military use and for civilian use, Pope was a custom barrel marker from the late 1890's into the late 1930's or even into the 40's. Pope was able to produce a hand cut rifled barrel that was very accurate even in 22 RF. Pope marked his barrels

Stevens made a lot of 22 rim rifle barrels for the military conversions while Pope worked for them, these barrels are not marked Pope. Pope also made an off set chambered 22 RF barrel for the Krag too

Can you see the pictures on the photo bucket sight ? I tried all the links but none posted on here ,just the link . If you can see them ,I didn't get a clear picture of the handguard but there is a crack in the hand guard between the receiver and the rear sight .Looks like a fragile area for wood .

I changed this to read rear sight ,not front sight .
