Question OP-rod which is worth more

I have been off the board for a long time. Have forgotten most of my knowledge of the M1, so please tolerate not quite right terms.

Both have good piston and tang/guide

One is a 6535382 HRA, blued
One is a 7790722-RA with NM on the top

My question is which one is worth more to sell (here), all other factors the same.

I do not use the Gun enough to need a spare op-Rod

THE NM was acquired in 2008 right before life went sideways and has been in the parts stash (which will slowly show up here for sale) since then. The rod was purchased from one of the Reputable M1 sales places back then.

The sales is for a good cause: Buy a Lathe.

Hate to tell you but parts prices are at a all time low, now isn't the time to sell
To answer your question the NM would be worth alittle more than the HRA

Crud. I thought the prices on the assorted sales pages looked lower then back in the late 2000's when I was active.

And thanks for the info. I thought that might be the case, but I am out of the loop on this stuff. I can wait to sell, not broke etc

Now if you had a marked stock, you'd be in the money.

Lightbulb

For someone with an HRA rifle the HRA is worth more. For someone that needs a NM op rod for his NM rifle the NM is worth more. If neither of the above is the case it's a wash. Nothing about a 77 series op rod, NM or not, makes it worth more than a post war HRA.

I agree in theory, but it seems that some people do place a premium on an NM rod. They probably think it'll make their rifle shoot better.

I agree but people do put a premium on them

Back in 07 when I got the NM op-rod, the general idea was that it would make the Match rifle I build better. How much was iffy, but I figured I would give it a try..

Then life changed and it never got installed. Now I can not see well enough to shoot the gun enough to tell.

I also have a NOS gas cylinder for the same reason. No reason to keep that either

And just because....

I had the M1 out to check the op-rod in it. Wife asked me what I was doing. "selling Junk"
looks at M1
"YOU can not sell that, it to purdy".
its weird how life changes, she never really liked my guns. She thinks I should sell them all, except for the ones she thinks I should keep.
