Default New to me Saginaw, what can you tell me about it.

Well after never owning a carbine, in the last few weeks I've picked up two and two more in the way.

Not looking for collector pieces, just good shooters.

This is a Saginaw I recently got, no import marks that I see, I've already been told the flip site is repo and the barrel band looks like repo to me.

With the extras that came with it I'm into the rife at about $750 (California).

When was it made, what sight and barrel band should it have?

Who makes this slide? N 1 3

I agree you did ok on the price. Appears to be a “corrected” restoration. The sights are questionable as mentioned, as the rear is a repo and the front does not appear to be SG. SG front sights do turn up on ebay. Should be unmarked type 1 with a grove behind the post.

Someone did a pretty good job of making it look authentic. It should have a unmarked type 1A band and unmarked “S” rear flip. Barrel is a bit pitted, but cleaned up pretty well. This is one of those projects that maybe doesn’t warrant a true correction, but most correct era parts can be found on auction sights. Others here can pinpoint a date, but I think mid to late 43. SG barrels are undated.

I happen to have a type II safety I can let you have for a fair price to replace that type IV.

I think you did really well for $750. Definitely a birch M-2 stock, Big question is how does she shoot?
