Default Winchester M1 carbine value??

Thanks for looking at this. I have a Winchester M1 carbine that I purchased from a reputable garand and carbine parts dealer about 15 years ago. I will share the description he sent to me.

6.4 mil action correct rear sight, type 2 uncoded barrel band, uncoded front sight, win round bolt, type 5 slide w , all the right internals in the trigger housing, right trigger housing, correct butt plate, correct recoil plate, all previous parts are correct for this serial number.

Nice stock with W in sling well. standard prod rebuild stamp in front of sling well.

I am happy to try and answer any other questions. thanks for the information.

Are reselling and looking for a price?
Looks pretty decent. But the stamp on the stock is a rebuild stamp which requires more investigation.

Thinking about selling. Re: stamp on the stock, there is a rebuild stamp in one photo and W stamp on the sling well in the other photo. I was told by someone I trust it is a Win stock. I was looking for its approximate value ie price. thanks

With the sanded, rebuilt stamped stock. $ 1,200 to $1,400.
Without really breaking it down, there are some unknown parts and part types(from the pictures), like recoil plate, butt plate, mag catch, safety, hammer, sear, safety, hand guard, firing pin and ext. Is the bolt parkerized or blued?
Because the barrel band spring is commercial, doubts arise about everything else.
The front sight and rear sight are Winchester and the T-2 band could be. The stock looks like a Winchester stock but the font on the W in the sling well is unusual. If all the above check out it could push $ 2K with good headspace and MW. With a nice W stock It could go $ 2,400.

Thank you for your reply. Looking it over more carefully

Recoil plate marked W

Hammer marked W

Butt plate has no stamp but looking at photos appears correct per photos I looked at for a winchester butt plate.

safety and mag catch are NOT winchester

bolt I cannot tell parkerized vs blued but look blued to me (not an expert)

Ok, one lost hammerspring later I did look at sear and trigger both stamped W. Did not look at firing pin.

Handguard has W stamp
It appears everything I can see is as it was described in the original description. I was told originally that if the stock had an acceptance stamp it would be much more expensive .I was told it is a winchester stock ie has W stamp on it. This is not someone who would intentionally deceive and was a carbine parts dealer ie he would know.

To summarize it is in very good condition, appears all winchester except safety and mag catch, probably a winchester stock. Hope this helps and I hope I can find my lost hammer spring.
Thanks to all for your opinions. I appreciate it.

There's a Winchester almost exactly like yours except with a Type 3 barrel band for sale at a local gun store here in southeastern New Mexico for $1195.

Keep in mind some people here will tell you an inflated price in order to sell their similar one to someone reading these threads who doesn't know the actual values. Check Gbroker sold listings and compare yours. That's the actual potential values. Now that said, an absolutely brilliant one sold recently. Discount that one when you find it. This one is not in that level so just use reason when doing that research. Almost none are on that level so that's not a slight.

Keep in mind some people here will tell you a deflated price in order to offer, on the side, a low price in hopes of buying it cheap. Your carbine would part out near $ 1,400.
Which implies the New Mexico carbine is about right, the band lowers the price by $ 200.
Six million Winchesters are nice carbines and many have been only lightly used. To some a six million Winchester is worth more as a whole than the sum of its parts.

The sum of the parts have to be on an obvious original with excellent stock. That's the only time it counts.

Almost all Carbines, Winchester included are worth 15% less than the sum of parts. And it has to be desirable condition, not junky.
