Wowser, what a beaut. If it were mine I wouldn't take less than $4k for it and maybe not less than $5K!

I think $5000 would not be out of line if all the parts are correct. I have an all correct, original finish, WIN-13 I am planning to sell and that is what I was going to ask.

Default A few more pictures of the internals

My buddy sent me some additional pictures, mostly of internal parts.
The more I look at this rifle the more I convince it is an original survivor and probably was originally with the slant Op-rod.
What a beauty

Hey Rob,

I'm no expert at all on these but this might help.

This one sold for around $2500. It did need a stock.

http://forums.thecmp.org/showthread.php?t=219477

Healthbob who is a big garand component seller on GB had a very nice one for sale out of his personal collection. I think his buy it now was around $3300. Not sure how to look up old acutions but IMO that would be one to look at for a comparison.

I would think both rifles are corrected and not original but I don't know.

Good luck.

The GCA did an article on an unissued rifle (WRA museum) and a issued rifle several years ago GCA 16-3 Summer 2002. I would use that to help you out. The rifle looks great, probably was an old DCM gun that may have had a few parts replaced. I would like to see the top front of the gas cylinder lock to see the milling cut and the type of screw used. From the pictures it is hard to tell what the lock bar looks like on the edges. The hammer pin and the spring plunger look like they could be replacements. Like you I suspect the slant oprod could be original to the rifle. I don't have the GCA article with me but the issued WIN13 could have had a slant oprod. I know the museum 1.62M had a flat side. For what its worth I saw a late WRA original rifle at Louisville with a little less finish on the moving parts sell for $3500. Rob, if interested email me for additional ramble..regards..

Well guys, I want to thank all that gave good feedback on condition and possible value. All good information and both he and I learned a bit more about these nice Winchesters.

He has decided to hold onto it for a while yet which is OK by me since I think he was going to be at around $5K for it and that is just a bit above my pay grade on a Win13.

Still an interesting discussion.

thanks all,
Rob

The original purchaser would have paid $165.
The current owner is not the original purchaser.
Can't live in the past, unfortunately
