Default Garand barrel readings

So I just received my first Garand from CMP. I'm beyond excited. I just have one question and I'm sure it's been asked, but I couldn't find it. The throat reading is 4 and the muzzle 2. I should still be able to shoot it with decent accuracy correct?

That’s worn but not well worn. Should be plenty of life in that barrel.

Thatll still shoot great. People get too hung up on numbers not realizing that barrels regularly left the factory with ME of 1+ and TE of 2-3+ during WWII. The GCA showed an experiment where it took THOUSANDS of rounds to erode a barrel

A THOUSAND or THOUSANDS?

You have a great barrel. I bet you'll be amazed how well the old gun shoots.

Exclamation

It wasn't at all unusual for new SA barrels to have a reading of MW 2 and TE 4 is a decent, though not new, reading. TE has very little to do with accuracy.

"regularly left the factory with ME of 1+ "

Many more, especially 50's era barrels, left the factory with a MW of 2 or 2+.

My DCM 5.8M was the best shooter I ever owned, the MW was 1.75 on my CMP gauge and 2 on my Duff gauge.
