Default Anyone planning to attend the Western Games in Phoenix in 2023?

Hi everyone, just curious to see if anyone is planning to attend the upcoming 2023 Western Games in Phoenix next yr? I saw online registration is now open and hope we get enough people to attend so it doesn’t get cancelled like Oklahoma. I plan to be shooting my M1, A3, P1917, my rimfire ar15/22, and maybe the carbine match this year. What are you guys planning to shooting this yr?

Chris

I'll be there with M1, 03 or a3, 1917 or Enfield, Carbine for sure, shot 1st last year and hope to do the same.
2 days of the cup matches and EIC match.
Hopefully enough shooters sign up. Cheers, Rich

I gather that rifles meeting Rules 4.2.4 and 4.2.5 have to be fired in the Vintage class.

Hey Rich; Chris here. Don’t know if you remember me but you sent me the 2022 events booklet this yr for the Western Games. Looks like me and you will be pretty much firing the same rifles. Kinda excited about this yr because I picked up a shooting jacket so this will be my first event using it and also the carbine match also. Hope to see you on the line.

Chris

Pretty much, it is a shame that they don’t allow vintage semi autos in that class as I’ve been told by others they where bumped into the modern military class due to them being semi and not bolt action. This is my second time going. My first time was with a 20” AR and second time was with my M1; A3; 1917. Looking forward towards trying out my carbine out there also.

To those going to this match.Good food can be had nearby at Wildhorse West just west of
I -17 on rt74 at the light and turn left if I’m not mistaken, been awhile.Highly recommend the chili with onion and cheese toppings AND a green chili cheeseburger.
Next is a place north on I-17 first or second exit called of course RoadRunners, great food and sometimes live music
Drown your shooting sorrows with good food.

Last year was our first year. By far the best experience we ever had shooting. We were there all week. I got my hard leg there last year and my kid got her first points and hard leg at the state match this summer. Now we’re chasing points.

I don’t know if we will make it or not this year. We want to go to nationals if a Oregon group goes. Going to Arizona and Nationals is more than I want to spend in a year. If something doesn’t develop with Oregon group going to nationals, we will go to Arizona. That means we will be signing up the last minute for Arizona if we go.
