Default Markings on Early Inland Mag catch?

Hello. Where early Inland, "long face" serrated mag catches only marked WI, or were they also marked EI? Up to about what serial number were they used? I think the books are wrong on this. Thanks!

I have 2 early ones, the serrated mag catches are both WI, which doesn't really answer your question. I'd be more concerned about the construction of the serrated catch itself. These have been faked. People have casted them, and they look pitted, fakers will tell you maybe they are just rusted, but they are poor casting. Also I have seem faked ones, again poor quality, which have the wrong number of serrations. I don't recall the letters on these, maybe they were or weren't marked EI. But they typically had only 9 serrations (ribs). A real one will have 11 or maybe 12 ribs. These are just my observations over the last 10-15 years.

Not if you read the right publication. C.C.N.L. #346

I guess I should clarify. The common reference books do not list a long face serrated mag catch that is marked EI, only WI. But I believe some were marked EI.

One form or another of EI and WI font only in the first block according to the above posted CCNL. Just past 80,000 for the start of the type 1A. I hope this helps.
