Default MM Build Options $$$

I have a lower I want to use for MM. I'm looking for input on the best bargain in a military profile upper that I can snap on. I'm a middle of the pack shooter, so I don't anticipate needing the highest quality barrel, but I also don't want junk. I will mount an optic.
PSA has 16" 1-7 uppers on sale for cheap.
Any help from those who have gone this route is appreciated.

Jess

I have a friend with a PSA upper that has a mil spec FN barrel and he is very pleased with its performance.

Jess: AR15 stuff is dirt cheap. Complete AR15s are going well under $400 at large auctions. PSA and Bear Creek Arsenal are good sources. Almost any A4 upper is going to be very accurate. For MM, you need to look at weight and the effect of a tight sling. I use a very heavy 16" barrel for the latter and a lite, fixed 4x scope for the former, to stay under the weight limit. There is a wealth of information on these forums. ...and do watch for any new rules, hopefully out soon. Good Shooting. ...

I did the same. My designated A4 MMR for matches has an 18" FN CHF barrel. With optic I'm right at 8.5 lbs.

Thanks to everyone for all the helpful replies. Here's what I did.
I got an on-sale complete upper from PSA with a heavier barrel than the M4 configuration and a rear rail. 16 in. I had a locally made lower that I filled with a kit from Tom's Tactical with their mid range mil spec trigger. I put a UTG A2 stock kit on the thing. Next step is to shoot it some for function test.
I bought the Leuupold VX Freedom in 1.5-4x24 (I think that last number is correct.) I also got a Burris PEPR one piece mount. I'll put this scope on after the function test and hopefully be ready for warmer weather.

I hope to scope my SR this year and this is to also serve as a run-through for scope selection and mounting. That scope will be a bit more sophisticated.

Thanks again

Jess

Hold on!

Rules changed for 2019. You better read the NEW Rule Book!

What you’ve built will put you in the Unlimited Classification. You’ll be competing against 18+ lb. AR Match Service Rifles. Easy, easy to clean the 30 round, 200 yard A Course that is used in the Games. Unlimited Modern Military will be a 10X clean competition.

“Class A” Modern Military is now 7.5 lbs., no optic and can be floated or not. Iron Sights at 200 yards Gents! Welcome to the suck.

Is there a link to the rule changes? I'm just wondering if there is a reference to exactly what changed from last year? I'm getting ready to start digging through the rule book now, if I can narrow down the changes I'll post them.

I'm planning to shoot a couple MM matches just to get some match practice. Im just getting in to shooting these style matches so still learning. Thanks.
