Default My First Bayonet

Howdy all,

I picked up my first bayonet and I thought I’d share and get some insight from more learned members. I’m reading through the very helpful “bayonet points” articles now.

I got a cut down SA bayonet (stamped 847305) with a 1918 stamp. There are no other “mod” markings on noting who cut it down. Would that mean Springfield did the modification?

Sheath doesn’t appear to be a cut down sheath, so maybe they weren’t issued together, but it’s in pretty good shape. Don’t see any other markings on it besides Arsenal bomb.

Anyone have further insight?

What does the other side of the scabbard look like?

I don't believe Springfield did any of the modifications. They were to busy building M1 Garands. Could be yours missed being marked or it is marked on another part of the bayonet not pictured. As mentioned above, AFH marked theirs on the side of the bayonet handle. Some stamps were very lightly done.
