Woody died today at age 98, Medal of Honor won on Iwo Jima.

He was the last living WW2 recipient of the CMH. A treasure to the nation and here in WV!!

Not to take away the courage of Mr. Williams’s and what he did, but it’s not the Congressional Medal of Honor. It is simply the Medal of Honor. Why do guys keep getting it wrong? The way I understand it, the military decides to award the metal, not Congress.

CWO4 William's was the last surviving MOH recipient of WW2 - of which there are now estimated only 240,000 veteran's of WW2 remaining-- we are losing them at an accelerating pace.... of 3,515 recipients since the Medal's inception only 66 are still living (1.8%).
