Default "Modern day Scope" on the H&R m12

Fellows; Are there any "modern day scopes" that will mount to the H&R m12 scope blocks?

From what I have researched the answer is NO.... but..... I thought I'ld ask. I think the "modern day scopes" are too short to pick up the blocks.

believe EWG makes a weaver type one piece base that uses the existing rear hole that allows use of modern day scope

Default Not being made now, but you might see one for sale used:

The Viani mount:

Attaches to the rear sight holes and the rear holes on the barrel.

I got a piece of sight rail stock from Brownell's and mounted it to the back two mounts on my M12. That gave me a rail anywhere up to eleven or so inches long to use with my
"modern" scope. Drill it to fit the screw holes on the mounts already there, get new machine screws (longer ones) from your hardware store. Screw them through the new stock mount and the old mounts into the barrel Yeh, I'm real cheap.

Default Scope mount

The Viani mount is real nice... should be for $185. Is it steel or aluminum? I see that the forward mounting holes require that the existing (original) scope block must be removed. The 2 screws retaining my block are in REAL tight and I'd prefer not to bugger them up attempting to remove them.

Captaincalc: What back 2 mounts are you referring to? Is one of them the rear receiver mount and the other the rear barrel mounted scope block? Can I assume you removed the existing rear scope block to attached your "inexpensive" rail?

The rail is aluminum and the part that attaches to the side of the receiver is steel, just as the Redfield sight bases were. FWIW, when Viani was selling them, I think I paid about $90 each.

More pics here.

Part of the beauty is that you don't need to remove the base to use large-format Redfield sights.
