Default Grenade Launching blanks

I am currently looking for grenade launching blanks for the Garand. I can't find any at gun shows, on line or anywhere. Can someone give me any sources, I want to show my grandsons how I entertained their daddy when was young.

They are not blanks.... They are grenade cartridges....

Not to be confused...

If I'm not mistaken, I believe the grenade launchers had the crimp top and regular blanks just had red. I have M1 Garand blanks available but my grenade launching rounds I won't part with

yes, the grenade launchers have the rosette crimp, plain blanks have the red wad at the top.

To paraphrase somebody else's quote "Its all About the Headstamp" Bottom line, if it has a crimped mouth and a US head stamp earlier than 1972 assume its a grenade launcher cartridge.
Data point to remember. The US stopped manufacturing all 30.06 ammunition other than blanks in the 1969-1972 range. So US grenade launcher rounds will have headstamps earlier than 1972. Since that time the only US 30.06 round being loaded/purchased are blanks. Until at least the late 1990's the red cardboard mouth configuration was being loaded/ purchased by the US. I know this as the casings fired by the honor guard at my fathers funeral are all 1990's head stamps and were the red cardboard configuration. Sometime subsequently the US changed the mouth of the blank cartridge to a rosette crimp like the 5.56 blanks. There were some I believe not manufactured by Lake City that had pressure issues w/ blank adapters. The last ones that I have seen are all Lake City (LC) w/ rosette crimps and head stamps after 2000.

Another data point, blanks can be used to launch grenades (reduced range) but grenade launcher cartridges can NEVER NEVER NEVER be used as blanks!!

The new blanks are crimped; there was a problem with some contractor-produced M1909 blanks. Here's how to tell the difference:

ETA: Fire any blank or grenade cartridge in your bolt gun; they are hazardous to the oprod of your M-1 rifle.

Default GL vs B

I love the things you can learn on this forum!

Many tanks to edlmann and SpearheadOrd!

I have some 45 dated grenade lanchers with the 5 rosett crimps and some WWII blanks with the red cardboard. The Honor Guard at my dad's funeral gave me some of the blanks they shot and they were LC 10. They have the 6 rosetta crimp...
