Hello Bryan. I kid you not, it was on Guns International from a dealer in Austin, Minnesota. He and his wife were very nice folks and I tried to get some info but the man has some 2000 rifles listed and was asking 1700 delivered with a 3 day inspection no questions asked. The five pictures were vague but had the N^Z stamp and I knew immediately what it was. It was delivered in 3 days once they got my Cashier's check. When I opened the wrappings I was the happiest 1903 collector on Earth. I immediately sent detailed pictures to JB who confirmed it was legit. So, they are still out there! Regards, Rick.

That is an amazing rifle. Beautiful to say the least. Can ya’ll tell me more about the inspection markings forward of the baseplate? They are different than I am accustomed to seeing. Are they particular to early Remingtons?

Yep, early to mid-range Remington M1903s used symbols, rather than the numbers in the geometric figures seen on later Remington M1903s and M1903A3s.
