Default 1911s - type of sale

I am not trying to be "theoretical" and I know they do not have the 1911s yet, but I saw the provision was for 8000 pistols in the NDAA. I'm sure Trump will sign it, and I know the CMP is good to go on receiving.

So my question is - how will they be sold?

Mail order?
Mail order raffle (Like carbines of 2016)?
Auction?
In-store only with shipping to home state FFL?

I ask because I know many rifles only made it to the stores, without us in the "too far to drive" states getting a chance. I need to know if, as a west coast resident now, I need to plan for a trip to Alabama next year to stand in line for a week ;-)

Thanks for any info.

Airogue, we will not know the conditions of sale until the CMP makes an announcement. All else is speculation and not worth the time it takes to read it. Patience, Grasshopper.

Go to the sales page and look at the new message posted 11-22-17 by the chairman of the CMP Board reference how these will be handled. The Board will make a determination of how to sell same. What does this mean? No idea, let the speculation continue until this gets locked.

That about sums it all up.
The other 2 threads on this page, same subject, that are locked should serve as an advisory...now 3.

The key here is that information will be posted...as it becomes available, and as referenced below!

Thank you Steve!
Correct on all points...
http://thecmp.org/cmp_sales/

And straight from the above (bolded, large font emphasis mine)...

11/22/17 - Latest update on the 1911’s…..

Because of the limited number and the exceedingly high demand for the pistol, and the great level of Congressional scrutiny, the Board of Directors will make a decision regarding how sales will be handled. We have no further information at this time.
– Mrs. Judith Legerski, Chairman, CMP Board of Directors

10/11/17 An update on the 1911’s…

We are waiting patiently and quietly to see how the NDAA 2018 turns out. All prescribed steps have been taken by CMP to fulfill the mandated requirements for receipt of the 1911s from the United States Army. CMP is in a constant state of readiness. The CMP has no further information at this time.

Thank you,
Mark Johnson
