I go with Jpm and recommend you leave it alone. How many would recognize that it is not a Remington stock. They were almost identical and like has been mentioned, it has nice and correct markings. The stock on it is a very nice stock. Me personally, I like the straight stocks. I got a couple 03A3s a few years ago that came with the scant stocks and those were definately not original to the rifles plus I did not like them so I changed them immediately. Stocks got mixed up when the rifles came in for repairs or rebuilding, just like with M1s, so getting the original stock that came with the rifle is a rare event. You got a very nice rifle for a very good deal. The price you paid was less than the last ones CMP sold. My recommendation is leave it alone and enjoy the heck out of it.

I have decided that indeed I am going to keep it just the way it is. It is a beautiful rifle just the way it is and deserves to be shot and cherished more than anything else. I am very pleased to have acquired it and am already learning lots! You guys have been awesome, thanks again!
