Yea -- if I had a stock like that sitting around ... the other parts would surely follow!!

Thanks everyone. The stock is tight too, it's as tight as the glass bedded rifles I have built. The front end has spring to it as well. It will be fun to take out and shoot.

That's one stunning stock set. Are the hand guards USGI also? They look like the fancy claro walnut examples DGR sells today.

Very good looking rifle indeed. The stock set is very nice looking.That front hand guard is unlike any that I have seen. I have found that the more I look at pictures on here of everyone's garand the more garands I want.

They handguards are USGI as well. I bought the whole set from an AFNG Senior Master Sergeant I was taking an M14 match armorer's course from back in the late 1980's. He sold this stock, and about 3 or 4 others, an M1D scope mount, and a whole pile of M1 parts to me for $200. The stocks were coated with a ton of varnish.
