Default Lost a Pal this week, Rifle Guy passed.

John Johannes, the Rifle Guy, passed 1FEB19. He was active in the CMP and got lots of folks involved in our sport. For many years he headed up our CMP program at Linden Sportsmen Club. He worked with JJOshea, GrumpyOldSwede and the M1 for Vets program at the club and National level and helped get many of the old rifles into the hands of Veterans. He volunteered and coordinate with JJOshea the M1 for Vets Rifle Team activities at the Camp Perry National Matches and worked all year long fund raising so as to get as many Vets shooting the old rifle matches at Camp Perry and other venues. He got together a group of us from Linden Sportsmen Club and contacted the American Legion, and VFW posts in our area and he would volunteer us to clean and service their salute rifles. He loved shooting his M1 and he even shot it in the Hearst with me as his partner. He was a good man and will be missed by all that stood the line with him. God Bless You John.

RIP. We aren't getting any younger.

Sorry for the loss of your friend, and our fellow competitor.

Don't know him but obviously he was one of the "good guys". I'm sorry to hear this...

Wow, sorry to hear that Don. My deepest condolences to the family. Hadn't seen John in a few years, but I always enjoyed running into him at Perry and conversing.

Default M1 for Vets rifle presentation

This is John making a presentation at one of our CMP club matches of a Garand to a worthy Vet. This would of been 2006 or 2007.
