I figure if a person likes the place, they stick around. If not, they go away. Not that hard.

I am obviously not a mod - but we use the same software on two other like forums - one has the 'Like' a posting (actually it says thank you) and the other does not. I am an admin on the one that does not, I do not know where I would flip the switch.

to all those facebook haters out there, its not facebook, its an easy way to click on a thread and say, Flipping A without clicking on the box down below and typing - because many members don't like to do that (some like it too much )

A perfectly sound idea, not sure why some disliked it so much

Maybe because so many relate it to Facebook and as one who has never had and never will have a Facebook account I understand but this is a very ez way to +1 a post without all those +1 posts.

Like everyone is not going to read the thread unless it has 100 likes

Excellent point. I misspoke in my original post. It really is a "thank you" button. I too am mystified about some of the opposition to this.

It is because posters see that you have some sort of agenda, probably originated over there on the BT forum.

Some of the posters here think they own this forum or something. You dont.

Most likely would Save CMP money by not using up all the extra bandwidth from the +1 post

The CMP does not have to pay for bandwidth, you, the customer are paying for it.

I really don't see the problem going either way with the feature, but semi-understand both sides of the issue. At this point, the CMP is the only one who will make a decision on this.

So, what does the CMP say? This is the Ask CMP thread, right?

I'm just grateful we don't have the pop-up adds that many forums have. Some, I'm sure we all know which ones I'm talking about, have pop-up adds that keep rearing there ugly heads everytime the screen changes. The biggest turn off, and I don't stay on those sites for long. Get tired just constantly closing the pop-ups. Makes me not want to buy the pushy products. Thank you CMP for not needing the outside add revenues, I promise to keep buying more!

PS, I don't talk in "like speak" anywhere, and have never texted and such, so it makes no difference either way to me on that point. I like being old-school, and I know how to write with pen and paper.
