Default New Bavarian Forestry RG

Here tis... came yesterday! I had some hassle with FedEx holding it, and then sending it out on the truck, and then trying to pick it up.. twice. But, I got it! Its a beautiful Inland w a 7/44 Inland barrel. #53670XX Stamped matching handguard and stock... stamped with the SN of a different rifle, but still very nice... to me. It has its dents and dings, but that along with the color is exactly how a nice carbine should look in my eyes. the bolt and slide are hand etched with the SN of the receiver. Bore is very nice, park is all nice... has a decent cross cannon stamp on the stock. The stock feels a little waxy and the cannons would come out nicely if I redid it... but it is staying as is. The forward sling mount loop is quite worn, but thats all. All in all, I am very pleased. We'll see how it shoots!

HI Flipseat, thanks for responding on the other thread and your current post.Looks like you did well on the racker.
Last month I received my RG Forestry carbine and it also had different #s on the stock and the receiver.NO #s or stamps inside the hand guard.Aiso on mine somone tried to grind off the Bavarian Forestry police stamp.Yours too?
I'm not complaining.Luck of the draw got me a Saginaw S'G' and it looks and shoots good.Im trying to get an idea if mismatched stocks and ground off letters are more common on the Forestry RG than the Rural Police models.
Happy new year.

Hey Fishman,
It doesn't appear that anyone tried to grind off any of the markings on this one. The stock appears to have been stamped with the s/n of a different rifle, but the handguard is stamped with the same # so at least they are matching.... although the stock is stamped "HI" in the sling well and "OI" on the bottom of the hand guard. Also noticed today that the rear of the trigger assembly (Inland) is stamped with the last 4 digits of the s/n on the receiver. The slide is stamped as well... the bolt is hand etched. I'm unsure where this was all done. Does yours have any of this? What kind of shape is yours in overall?

How deep are the stake marks on the rear sights? As bad as the Italians?

My RG Forestry also had the "bavarian forestry police" about halfway ground off, but the stock serial numbers did match the receiver. MW was about a 1, and most all parts including stock were correct for the rifle (underwood).

I'm not sure how bad the Italians were... but someone did a nice job with this one. They're pretty light. The sight is off to the left, but I hear thats a common issue. I shot it today and it shoots center, but about 6" low at 50 yards with the 1 setting. I bumped up to the 25 setting and that got it real close. It shoots nice! I don't know if anyone ever filed the front sight on it or not? If so, its had to tell.
