Default Hello From San Antonio area.

My wife & I stopped by the South Store last April on the way home from the NRA convention in Atlanta. Picking were slim, but I found a nice rifle with a new CMP stock at the Talladega Range.

I've been hooked on this forum for awhile, picking up as much knowledge as I can. Everyone seems to be very friendly and helpful. I work on bolt action hunting rifles quite a bit, but I've always had a fondness for the old M1 rifle and always wanted to learn more about them. This is my hobby within a hobby.

I purchased my first Garand from the old DCM back in 1992 for about $265.
My second M1 was a gun show pick up that I rebarreled, re-stocked and did a full accurizing job on with the help of an old AMU Armorer that was an instructor at TSJC back in the mid 90's. I'm not saying how many I have now in case my wife reads this post. It's that bad.

I shot a fair amount of Highpower Rifle many years ago. I'm getting back into it this year with some of my co-workers shooting the Garand Matches.
I'm here just to have fun & relax.

Cheers,
HCR Dave

Hi Dave and welcome to the forum from a fellow Texan. I feel your pain, if I have to admit to any addictions, it is M1 rifles and their relatives like 03s and carbines. I also have too many to admit too but have thoroughly enjoyed the hobby. When I was a youngster I wanted to collect and restore old cars and pickups, but soon realized that that was going to be far more expensive than my jobs could support, so I settled on my other passion, old guns. Hope you enjoy it here. I certainly have. Perhaps we could meet up some day and swap stories. I go thru NB quite often, I have a son that lives there and my oldest daughter lives in Austin. Again welcome, and have a good one.
